In order to clearly state saccas takes over the maintenance for this unmaintained software.
There seems to be no need to split this up. There is not a wide adoption of other packages using the same API. Furthermore an interface would be better suited. Merging both makes maintenance easier.
The package most probably is compatible with more versions, but we use 8.1.x right now. Also the package didn't communicate any compatibility until now.
